Product Overview

When you're entering an environment where the exact threat is unknown, you need protection that covers the widest possible range of hazards. ABEK is our comprehensive multi-gas protection carbon, engineered for respirator cartridges and escape devices used by firefighters, chemical workers, military personnel, and emergency responders.

The ABEK designation follows the European EN 14387 standard classification:

  • A = Organic vapors (boiling point >65°C)
  • B = Inorganic gases (chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, etc.)
  • E = Acid gases (sulfur dioxide, hydrogen chloride)
  • K = Ammonia and organic ammonia derivatives

Unlike single-threat carbons, ABEK uses a sophisticated multi-layer impregnation process that loads different reactive chemicals onto specific carbon fractions, creating a composite media that addresses each threat class without cross-interference.

  • Q
What does the ABEK designation mean for respiratory protection?
    A

ABEK follows the European EN 14387 standard classification: A = Organic vapors (boiling point above 65°C), B = Inorganic gases like chlorine and hydrogen sulfide, E = Acid gases including sulfur dioxide and hydrogen chloride, K = Ammonia and organic ammonia derivatives. This multi-layer impregnation creates composite media addressing each threat class without cross-interference.

  • Q
What applications require ABEK multi-gas carbon?
    A

ABEK is engineered for respirator cartridges and escape devices used by firefighters, chemical plant maintenance workers, military personnel handling CBRN threats, and emergency responders entering environments where the exact hazard is unknown. The comprehensive coverage eliminates the need to carry multiple single-threat cartridges.

  • Q
What particle sizes are available for filter manufacturing?
    A

ABEK is available in 12×20 Mesh (0.85–1.70mm) and 14×25 Mesh (0.71–1.40mm). These sizes are optimized for cartridge packing density and airflow dynamics, ensuring consistent protection times while minimizing breathing resistance for the wearer.
