Product Overview
Our industrial wastewater activated carbon(WT-P) is engineered for the variable, high-organic-load conditions of manufacturing effluent. Produced from select bituminous coal through carbonization and high-temperature steam activation, it delivers iodine adsorption above 1000 mg/g and surface area over 1000 m²/g — the capacity headroom that chemical, pharmaceutical and food plants need when organic loads swing. The granular structure runs reliably in fixed-bed pressure or gravity filters, and crush strength above 90% survives repeated backwashing and hydraulic stress. We manufacture this grade in-house under ISO 9001, with batch certificates of analysis on every lot, so high-volume operations get consistent COD removal cycle after cycle.
Why High Iodine Matters Under Variable Organic Loads
Iodine number measures the micropore volume available to adsorb the small organic molecules that dominate COD in industrial effluent. At 1000+ mg/g, this grade carries roughly 25% more adsorption capacity than standard 800-iodine carbons, which translates directly into longer bed life under the same load.
The real value shows up on the difficult days: when a production upset or a campaign change sends organic loading spiking, the extra capacity headroom absorbs the shock without breaking through to the effluent. For plants with variable production schedules, that buffer is what keeps discharge consistently in spec.

Key Application Areas
- Municipal Sewage Treatment — Polishes secondary effluent in municipal plants, adsorbing residual organics and micropollutants before discharge or reuse.
- Industrial Wastewater Processing — Treats effluent from chemical, pharmaceutical, and food manufacturing where variable organic loads require reliable adsorption capacity.
- Post-Biological Tertiary Treatment — Integrates after activated sludge or MBR systems to remove non-biodegradable organics, color bodies, and trace contaminants that biological processes cannot fully degrade.
- Reclaimed Water Production — Prepares treated wastewater for non-potable reuse applications by removing residual COD and organic precursors that could foul downstream membranes.
- Pre-Treatment & Stormwater Management — Protects downstream biological units from organic shock loads and treats variable-flow wastewater streams.
Key Advantages
- High Iodine for High-Load Duty: >1000 mg/g iodine and >1000 m²/g surface area deliver rapid adsorption kinetics for COD and organic removal in high-volume wastewater streams.
- Granular Durability for Harsh Service: >90% crush strength and low floating rate ensure stable bed performance through repeated backwashing and hydraulic stress.
- Coal-Based Cost Efficiency: Bituminous coal feedstock provides economic activated carbon for large-scale continuous wastewater operations without sacrificing adsorption capacity.
- Tertiary Treatment Versatility: Compatible with biological treatment trains, acting as a polishing step or shock-load buffer without disrupting microbial ecosystems.
For standard-duty municipal polishing where extreme capacity is not required, see our standard wastewater grade.
Which Wastewater Grade Fits Your Plant?
We build four wastewater grades because every plant sits at a different duty point. This high-iodine grade is built for high-load, variable industrial streams where capacity headroom protects the discharge permit. For moderate, predictable loads, our standard grade (WT-S) is the economical choice. For general municipal and industrial duty, see our base grade (WT). And when adsorption alone is not enough — refractory organics or advanced oxidation loops — our catalytic grade (WTC) adds reactive surface chemistry.
Technical Support & Supply
We produce this high-iodine grade in-house under ISO 9001 quality management, with batch certificates of analysis covering iodine, surface area, hardness, ash and moisture. Custom particle size distributions are available on request. Share your wastewater composition, flow rate and COD targets — our technical team will size the adsorption stage, estimate changeout intervals and provide samples for on-site trials.
