Product Overview
TLX is our active coke product—a specialized carbon material manufactured from coal through a controlled carbonization and activation process that produces a harder, denser product than standard activated carbon. The "active coke" designation reflects its intermediate position between activated carbon and metallurgical coke, combining adsorption capacity with exceptional mechanical strength.
The primary application for TLX is dry flue gas desulfurization (DFGD) and denitrification, where the carbon bed operates at high temperatures and must withstand continuous mechanical stress from bed movement and pneumatic transport. Standard activated carbons simply cannot survive these conditions.

Key Application Areas
- Power plant flue gas treatment — SO₂ and NOx removal from coal-fired boilers
- Steel mill sinter plant off-gas — multi-pollutant control
- Cement kiln exhaust — sulfur and nitrogen oxide reduction
- Industrial boiler emission control — compliance with tightening standards
- Waste incinerator flue gas — acid gas and heavy metals capture
Active Coke Advantages
- Extreme Hardness: Withstands the abrasive conditions of moving bed and circulating systems
- High Operating Temperature: Effective at temperatures where standard activated carbons would degrade
- SO₂ and NOx Co-Removal: Catalytic surface chemistry enables simultaneous sulfur and nitrogen oxide reduction
- Regenerable: Thermal regeneration restores both adsorption and catalytic activity
